The 2nd EU Food Safety Forum will take place on 2 and 3 December 2024 at the headquarters of the CNR – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in Rome (sala Marconi, piazzale Aldo Moro 7). This key event aims to bring together leading experts, policymakers, researchers, and industry professionals from across Europe to shape the future of the EU’s Food Safety Systems.

Organised by the CNR and the EU Food Safety Platform, the Forum offers a collaborative platform to address critical challenges, share innovative ideas, and chart a course towards a safer, more sustainable food system for Europe.

Professor Daniele Del Rio, President of the OnFoods Foundation, will join other European project representatives to discuss how these projects can enhance Food Safety in EU Food Systems, focusing on biodiversity and circularity.

A Dynamic Programme of Sessions

The Forum will feature a variety of sessions, including the Science-Policy-Society, Co-Creation, Networking, and Young Researchers and Innovators Sessions, each with distinct objectives.

  • Integrating perspectives from multiple stakeholders. Exploring how institutions and experts can jointly prepare for the future of food safety.
  • Contributing to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Actively updating the SRIA to align it with emerging trends and challenges.
  • Fostering connections and sharing best practices. Providing opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and discuss findings from ongoing EU projects, strengthening cooperation across the food safety community.
  • Empowering the next generation of researchers. Offering young researchers a platform to present innovative solutions to food safety challenges.

The Forum is designed to stimulate innovation and promote collaboration in Food Safety, reinforcing the EU’s leadership in protecting public health. By embracing the One Health approach, which integrates scientific research, policy development, and societal needs, the event aims to ensure a resilient and future-ready Food Safety System for the EU.

Following the success of its inaugural edition in Brussels in 2023, this year’s Forum promises to advance the conversation and drive actionable outcomes for the future of European food safety.

Participation in the event is free of charge, with registration required.
