The delegation to Harvard includes professors Daniele Del Rio and Francesca Scazzina from the University of Parma, Councilor Marco Bosi (UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy) from the Municipality of Parma, Elio Volta and Stefano Rossetti from the Giocampus Project, and Michele Ventura, President of CUS Parma.
The "Parma Model" is now under scrutiny at Harvard, with a focus on nutrition and healthy lifestyles, which are at the center of the mission to the United States led by the University of Parma. The University has been invited by various institutions at Harvard University, along with the Municipality of Parma, CUS Parma, and the Association "Parma, io ci sto!", to showcase the collaborative activities in research and community engagement.
The spotlight is on the "Parma Model" and its key initiatives, such as Giocampus, the our national project led by Unipr OnFoods, and Parma as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.
The University has received two invitations, particularly addressed to Daniele Del Rio, professor of Human Nutrition and President of the School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition: one from the TH Chan School of Public Health at Harvard, and the other, scheduled for Thursday, June 1, from the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard.
The TH Chan School of Public Health is primarily interested in activities aimed at improving nutrition and promoting healthy lifestyles for the local youth community, with a particular focus on multilevel educational strategies applied to the prevention and reduction of childhood and adolescent obesity. The main initiative that generated this interest is the Giocampus Project, a successful public-private partnership and a flagship program for Parma. However, discussions will also cover Parma as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the activities of the UNESCO Parma Creative City of Gastronomy Foundation, and the significance of "Parma, I'm in!" as a key player in the initiatives for the valorization and development of the territory in synergy with institutions.
On the other hand, the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard, the unique World Class Excellence Center in the United States and the point of contact between the prestigious Universidad Complutense in Madrid and Harvard University, has shown interest in the food research activities of the University of Parma and has invited the Unipr professors to present the latest developments, ranging from the recent establishment of the OnFoods Foundation, which coordinates 26 public and private partners for a three-year project on innovative research in food sciences, to the University's Food Project and the School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition.
