The Organization Profile

Bolton Group, through its Food Business Unit, has been operating on all continents for more than half a century and our products are now sold in over 60 countries around the world.

The cornerstone of Bolton Group's success and steady growth extends from our portfolio of over 50 excellent and renowned brands, some of which are over a century old. Many Bolton brands have established themselves as international market leaders, while others have a substantial presence in their local markets and several of our brands have even become synonymous with their category.

Research Activities

Our research and innovation activities aim at improving our existing products and developing new ones, with an emphasis on taste, quality and nutritional characteristics.

Every day, more than 100 million households across the world choose Bolton Group products. We offer a wide range of canned products and recipes, based largely on seafood (fish and shellfish) but also rich in vegetables, sold in different formats and suitable for different consumption opportunities. This variety enables us to offer all consumers a valuable alternative to homemade meals, and to make a tangible contribution to a healthy, balanced and Mediterranean-inspired diet.

Research Collaborations

Further, we collaborate with AZTI, a Spanish Institute of research, to further investigate fish consumption in the human population through clinical studies.

Specifically, we aim to further deepen our understanding of the lipidomic profile of canned fish and its link with human health. These collaborations also extend to novel ingredients and technological industrial innovations and to this end we collaborate with numerous scientific hubs across Europe. As an example, we performed research on bivalves aquaculture including nutrition and sustainability assessments. Historically, we also sponsored SINU conferences through UNIMI to exert our sense of responsibility at national level in supporting research debate on Healthy Nutrition. Furthermore, we recently sponsored a lecture at NUTRIMI 2022 to holistically illustrate all the current available evidence linking fish consumption with human health with particular emphasis on current gaps in research to an audience of experts.
