NRRP - Mission 4

OnFoods is a foundation that brings together, coordinates and amplifies the work of 26 public and private organisations, leaders in scientific research and sustainable innovation of food systems.

Our partnership is included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPRR), which the Italian Government has prepared as part of the Next Generation EU program.

We tackle these challenges by coordinating and systematising initiatives from the top Italian universities and research institutions, leveraging the vertical expertise of leading firms in the food and nutrition sectors.

OnFoods works as a coordinating hub for seven thematic Spokes, each focused on a specific and crucial aspect of the food system, yet working together to achieve common goals regarding food safety and quality, nutrition, and malnutrition prevention.

Exploring the intersection between food systems, science and the practice of sustainability

We believe that we can only address the challenges of food and nutrition sustainability through a systemic and interdisciplinary approach.

We work to understand better and act on the complexity of our food systems while improving people's well-being. This means producing scientific research and innovation outputs that impact the extension of lives in good health, reducing avoidable and premature mortality and inequality, and placing people at the centre of a more efficient, safe, sustainable and just social security system.
